slow death spiral

Postby nyazzip » Mon Mar 25, 2019 1:18 am

it's been sad to watch this place become a ghost town for the past 2-3 years...admittedly i have been busy and not doing tube-related things, but i have a ton of future projects lined up...and when i get to them, i am going to have lots of questions: will this site (and it's members) still be here...?

thanks a bunch for all your help so far. it was invaluable.
still sad about Ed.

I also check in regularly. It has been a long time since I posted anything. I have some projects in the works and will try to get some interest generated.

I check in as well often. I have two amps planned but I haven't had time to get to them due to life getting in the way. But when my browser starts up, this is my home page.

well, it is encouraging to read that there are still a few people logging in!
you guys are really a wealth of information for people like me who just aren't competent enough to fully understand this type of thing from reading text books...i've tried.
:o)
thank you all.

Well, I miss the old gang for sure. Ed, Eric and many others were great people. I don't have the historical stories that those guys had. I was fortunate to meet Shannon face to face a few years ago at the Dayton Hamvention (which I've gone to every year for the last 45 years) even if it was a brief meeting. If I can help anyone let me know. I'm not the world's expert on amplifiers, but I have built about 25 different amps (one of which is my avatar pic) and I'm an electronics engineer so I can help with most things probably. I do check in almost every day so even if I don't post, I'm around. One of these days I'll build a couple more amps and I'll post info. I have the parts, just not the time right now - and I'm retired!! Still no time!

I know that feeling. I think I had more spare time when I was working. 'Must be done with mirrors.

Another one here who checks in periodically.
I fondly remember the regular posters here like Ed Brown, Geek, Tom McNally, Mike Sherman, Minn and so many
others from the hey days, and I learnt a lot from this site and my point to point GetSetGo is a reminder of that.

Clearly the tube board business is not going to create any Elon Musks - Geek also
posted a note on the Classic Valves site that they are exiting the PCB business.
However, as site dedicated to all things "DIY tube", it would be great to see life here

Just moved to a smaller place and had to pile up boxes with unfinished projects in the basement. But I also have a great need to finish projects that I have invested lots of $$$ in and since I retired almost two years ago I have at least some spare time ...

This is the very best forum, great people with all feet on the ground, but the lack of activity is sad and bad. And would it be possible to get the various amplifier projects up and running again!?

Hey I'm always reading the forums. I have a couple of amps I'm building, will post pics soon !

Shannon's designs are not all that difficult to build by hand. Give it a try !

I check in from time to time but I don't really build tube amps anymore since I retired and moved to Texas.
I do have some of Shannon's unused PCB amp boards packed away that I should dig out.
