I have now started to make a rack case for the power amplifiers

I purchased the cases from hifi2000 .. and modded the case accordingly. The tiger I made up and is laser etched, the tiger eyes light up when the unit is on .. I also had a 3mm chassis plate made to fit the case (again laser etched)

Hi James,

That is awesome! I was just trying to buy 2 Velleman K8010 kits, but they are obsolete.... Where did you buy the special components, such as the transformers??

And are you using the 4x K88 tubes from the Velleman electronic design?

I would be interested in doing what you just did.

Kind regards,

Fred

I am Siriusly impressed. Good work!
Also I am a bit confused why you picked the Elektor's design and a question about the odd installment of the resistors in the first pics. Are they carrying current and gets too hot to be soldered to the PCB?

Magnus - those are the cathode resistors. They also act as fuses ! It's much easier to replace them with that above the board mount. Good idea ! I should do that with my K-4000.

A VERY good idea. Maybe something to try in the future. Besides it gives good places to hook up a voltmeter when checking bias current.

Ugh the Photobucket situation is so annoying. Wish we could still see the pics.
