John Broskie's Tetra Phono Preamp

Postby zippy1540 » Mon Nov 01, 2010 12:55 pm

Anyone had any experience with John's Tetra Pre-amp? i just got my first turntable and the little solid state pre-amp i have sounds like crap. If so what component / tube selections did you use?
i'm running a DIYTube ST-35, Dennon direct drive turntable with a Signet 5Ea Cartridge and a set of full range Zigmahornet speakers.

Thanks,
Paul

Just my 2 cents, but those Signet cartridges sound pretty darn good. Haven't heard the JB's preamp, though.

The cartridge does sound pretty good but my little solid state preamp is severely limiting the sound of the cartridge. Any thoughts on creating a DIYTube Phono Pre-amp?

Hi Shannon,

After that little experiment of mine (analog versus digital phono pre - different thread) I'm dieing to do a tube pre. I have a couple good 6DJ8s I'm saving for just such

If there's no sound in a vacuum, where'd the music come from?
