Output Transformer Question

Postby vmazz » Thu Jul 23, 2009 7:07 pm

Hey Everyone..I ma relative newbie to amps..I have made several mods to my fender champ 12 with great success..my final improvement will be to upgrade the OT. Im liking the looks of an Edcor GXSE15-8-5k. I think this is a good match as the replacement for t202 listed at Angela Instruments is a 5482 primary and a 8 ohm sec. Am I overlooking anything?
Here is the schematic( which I dont read very well as far as trying to get specs from the trannys)

Hi , why do whant to change it , and what is your abjective sound sound wise . Can't see the output tube type , if its a 6V6 an 8 k transformer would be what you want to use .

Can you provide a link for that schematic? I need to make it BIG so I can see what's going on.

I just think with the mods ive done the cheaper ot that is stock could be replaced. It sounds good but can be slightly muddy in the lower registers Im looking for more definition I guess. This is a red knob champ12 from late 80s. It runs one 6l6 power and 2 12ax7s pre.
Thanks for any input

Thanks for the input Battradio..did you discern this from the schematic or from the single 6l6 needing a certain current.Forgive my ignorance ..there are some aspects I get but the power tran-power tube-output tran relationship I dont quite get yet.
Thanks
