12xa7 jumper wires

shanon said to use jumper wires on the 12xa7 sockets pads .
is this the normal way to do it for the 9 pin socket. i am not shure.

Hi AudioRay,

The jumper wires are needed since I made the footprint compatible with mini-9 or octal sockets (eg thinking of using a 6SL7 in the 6B4 model). Neither socket is the default choice (thus no cuts), but jumpers are needed. The jumpers can be real short pieces of wire - I think .25" will even work. I just surface mount them. So on one pad I pool some solder, then with tweezers I slide the end of the wire/jumper in place. I let the solder cool, and then solder the other side. This is a very simple way of surface mounting parts with a single iron. Just snip the wire in two if you need to remove it.
