New England Amateur Radio (ham) fest. or simply NEAR-fest. Formerly known as "Hosstraders", this hamfest / swapfest / flea market has been around for over 30 years in one incarnation or other, in various locations around NH and Maine. It has NEVER been cancelled or postponed for weather conditions.

This event is held twice every year (May and October) currently at the Deerfield Fairgrounds, located in Deerfield NH.

I've always found some amazing tube bargains there, apparently the NE supply of tubes has not yet dried up, though some years yield a more bountiful crop than others Yellow_Light_Colorz_PDT_01

This time around, it is being held on Friday October 10 and Saturday, Oct 11. Rain or Shine, Blizzard or Heat-wave. The weather never stops it...

I have more recent )from last weekend) photos still to post.

This time around, there were scads of big boxes of cheap tubes, at literally "pennies apiece" bulk pricing... I dug through several of the larger boxes and cherry picked out the good stuff (6SN7s, 6SL7s, 6V6s, 12AU7s, 12AX7s, 6L6GCs etc, and even one pergectly good 45) and engaged in the usual "bargaining" process... All used and pulls, but most check out as being perfectly good, so far.

Now, having only one 45 is kinda like having only one wing, makes it hard to "fly"...

Also got more "better" tubes, one suitcase full of mostly NOS for $20, and another rmedium sized box full of pulls and NOS for $5. Both had very high "yields" :)) $) The dud and plinker count was fairly low, for once...
