DIY Electric Guitar Kits

Postby EWBrown » Tue Jul 17, 2012 11:21 am

I just got this link from a friend way up in the frozen wastelands, a variety of unfinished electric guitar kits. YMMV, etc....

Cool!

I thought Grizzly was the only one to have those.

Fine wine comes in glass bottles, not plastic sacks. Therefore the finer electrons are also found in glass bottles.

the catch is, you probably need to then invest in $40,000 worth of shop equipment to complete the kit!

There is a lot more than just sandpaper and screwdrivers to build one of these kits, good woodworking know-how and experience are needed. Given my singular lack of woodworking ability, all I'd end up with, is an expensive canoe paddle... ;) (lol)

As far as having your own $40K woodworking shop is concerned, that is quite apparent, here:

He is a custom guitar builder in Seattle, and the prices definitely are not cheap.... $) $) $)

The neck is already built, all you have to do is put some finish on the body, bolt on the neck, and wire it up.

Yeah, yeah, you still gotta do the intonation, and setup the neck, but thats true with any cheap already built guitar as well.

Out of the box they all need tweaking.

Chicago is too far away from me, besides, I just may be down in Florida for the Christmas - New Years week :))

Happy building and playing, just don't join "ABBA"....

I don't have one of these kit-guitars, but I do have an old, well-worn late 60s vintage Gibson SG.
This kit guitar looks a lot like a Fender Stratocaster. [:)

Not stolen, just redistributed ;) (lol)

BH is working on, or at least developing an electric guitar kit. The example shown was displayed for artistic porpoises only O:)

Nice work! (y)

The neck *seems* the easiest, but is the hardest part of the guitar to not screw up on =:o
