I'd love to see some schems. I'm trying to bone up on guitar amps.

I just noticed a mistake in the schematic: The wiper for the midrange pot should not attach to the ground end but to the input end.

As in between the junction of the "B1M" and "B100K" pot and the .005 uf cap ?

Looks like the PA774 would a close sub for the 276X, and the TF-110-48 is the 41318 equivalent...

I also have a Carver power and output trannie for their 60W 6L6 based amp, from an old E-bay purchase...

Cool.....Thanks.

Put another project in my queue :o Yellow_Light_Colorz_PDT_09 Yellow_Light_Colorz_PDT_02
At least I have all the parts needed, except perhaps for some of the pots, and those are easy to get anywhere. Yellow_Light_Colorz_PDT_11

Hey, just wondering: Why does the second 12AT7 triode, which I think is a split-load phase splitter, have that 1K2 resistor between its cathode and the coupling capacitor? Don't you want perfect balance?

The 1.2K resistor in the phase splitter provides the tube's proper grid bias, relative to the cathode's voltage. Any "imbalance" that may be created by this would be negligible.

Often, in this particular phase-splitter (cathodyne) design, the plate and cathode resistors can be up to 20% differening value, the ST35 uses 33K and 27K, but then its VA and PI stages are directly coupled VA plate to PI grid.

You are approaching this from the HiFi angle which is where Garnet came from in the beginning as well. These roots are why Garnet amps use the Baxandal style tone controls, any HiFi builder worth his salt stays away from those wonky Fender tone stacks. For guitars, tho, they work. Same with the split load phase invertor. Because it takes careful tuning to get the phase amplitiudes equal and no matter what you do the output impedances are not going to be the same (affecting frequency response) it is, IMHO, a poor choice for HIFi work. However, for guitars, any source of harmonics is probably good. Especially if the top and bottom of the signal are affected differently; ie a poorly balanced PI.

PS If I called them RCA instead of Baxandal style, would everyone know what I was talking about?
