Look at Parasound. They have an older two channel preamp and newer two channel preamp. Both with phono and remote. They used to have the similar version as an 'A/V' preamp with some type of Surround built-in. I'm not sure if they have one like that now. You can research...(and this is not their mini-component series). I seem to recall seeing the new two channel preamp for sale somewhere online (not auction) for less than $500.00,
I like Quad stuff personally. The 34 and 44 preamps are op-amp driven units which can be easily updated. The 33 is transistor. All series have tone controls, but with bypass. You saw my 44, not sure if you saw the 33 I have. (Yeah, yeah op-amps...I know, but the 44 is dead quiet) No remote for any of the Quad units I mentioned.
