Ho Folks,

Looking for opinions of the best place to get a replacement.

Cheers!

Not really a replacement but I have used, in the past, the Hammond 290FX. You must use SS rectifiers though (no 5vac), however the lower hv output gives the B+ in line with the original rectifier tube version. Oh, and you must supply an aux filament transformer as well. But, it is cheap in price, the bias tap is perfect, and Hammond quality. Big laminate stack and high B+ current capability. YMMV.

Ooops, just saw the "vote". Guess I'll not vote since this is such a red herring.

Too bad Edcor doesn't do horizontal mounting (yet), do they?

Edcor does have the XPWR214, 360-0-360 @ 400ma, 55v bias, two 6.3v @ 4a windings. It is X mounted but the holes are the same dimensions as the stock PA-060 and "should" bolt right on. Downside is no rectifier winding.

I would go with a XPWR233-120 https://www.edcorusa.com/xpwr233 at $86.49 (roughly $270 CAD, landed with Priority mail + border ding) and an adapter plate. The PA-060 upgrades would come to about $350 CAD landed right now (n)

I'll leave it up to the client as to how original he wants to keep it.

Thanks guys!

That bad Geek, wow! Since the Hammond trans are Canada products, are they subject to the same "shenanigans"?

Worse, Tom.

Landed cost, it's cheaper for me to get all Hammond products from the USA than within my own country. The exception is chokes, for some reason, which are the same.

Reason given to me is Hammond gets big tax breaks and subsidies for exporting, which they don't get for selling local.

That's the same reason a car manufactured in Ontario costs Canadians a good $10,000+ more than if the same Ontario made car is bought in the US.

We are the only country I know of whose system is set up to screw their own people... and are proud of it! >:o

As Tom recommended and a quote from Angela Electronics site:

Designed by Hammond for 'drop in' replacement of the original Fender power transformers found on old Twin Reverb, Dual Showman and Fender Bassman 100 amplifiers. Material used and design specs. were kept as close as possible to the original to preserve the stock tone. Physically designed to look similar to the original; transverse/'sideways' through the chassis mounting. Four bolt mount like the originals. Primary 120VAC. Secondaries 335-0-335@450mA for high voltage, 60V bias tap, 6.3VCT@5.5A for filaments. Designed to be equivalent to old Fender 125P34A and 022756 iron.

$107.15 CDN in Canada should make it a much better deal even with the added filament trans which hopefully could fit under the chassis, plus the 450 mA should be really nice to have.

Actually now rated 518ma.

I do like how Hammond now shows the necessary info to model in PSUD!
