New Edcor Iron of ST-70 Interest

Postby Geek » Wed May 01, 2013 5:00 am

I was browsing Edcor's "New Products" page for something unrelated and saw this:

Looks like a beefy tranny for EL34 or KT88 use with paralleled GZ34 capability :))

Cheers!

Fine wine comes in glass bottles, not plastic sacks. Therefore the finer electrons are also found in glass bottles.

Does that trannie drop onto an ST70 chassis without drilling new holes?

One possible problem is that this trannie is upright mounting, which will orient its core in a line with the cores of the OPTs in an ST70 chassis. That could couple 60Hz hum into the OPTs, right? Not a good thing if that happens. Is that a problem, you think?

Haven`t tried it. An adapter plate from a square of aluminum isn`t beyond most weekend DIYèrs.

That`s why power transformers are moutned at 90 degrees to the output transformers. Simple and effective.

that transformer will not work. It only has one 6.3v heater supply good for 5 A. You need another heater supply or higher amperage. more like 7 or 8 A.
