New guy with a new ST-70 project

knowledge base for the classic Dynaco ST70

Chassis is drilled, cut and punched. Now a lot of time trial fitting and working out wire routing. I will have it all in my head, much like all the moves in a chess match, before I solder the first wire.

The only constant is change. I pulled all the parts and had the chassis chromed. I then started work on a baltic birch cabinet to hold it. I still need to veneer it but it is coming together nicely and then back to wiring.

Did you use someone local to have the chassis chromed? That looks awesome! How much did you spend chroming it? Was your chassis aluminum? Thanks,

Yes, they are about 15 minutes from the house. http://alamoplating.com
The aluminum chassis cost just under $100 to chrome and polish.

If it's not prying too much....where did you get the original ampilier from? Already have it laying around, or was it a recent purchase?

Also, from the last picture you posted(after chrome plating was done), the top now has an optical illusion going on now. Kind of 'looks' bowed in....an awesome effect! Were you hoping for that look?

Can't wait for further developments on this topic!
Thanks for taking the time to show your progress....

Very Very nice build. That is a premium looking amplifier.
Great job!
