I would have no hesitation buying from this seller again. Note: these aren't miracle tubes, def not as open or bassey as my 6CA7's but plenty good for the money.

Not as open or bassey?

What are you using for a driver board in your 70?

My tubes haven't arrived yet.

Driver board is Shannon's DiyTube ST70. By saying that they aren't as open sounding or bassey, I mean in comparison to the EH 6CA7's that have maybe 1000 hours on them. They also seem to peak, power wise, at about halfway around the volume pot on my preamp, while the 6CA7's have more reserve. Admittedly with my 99db speakers, that point is louder than I would ever care to listen for any length of time.

Suggested vendor(s)?

I ordered mine from ebay russhamma (171)

$20 for 4 tubes and $9 shipping

ebay item 220531049378

Update++++++

Still haven't received my tubes

Contacted this vendor two times and was given a Russian Tracking number that last time. Unfortunately I do not read Russian so I have no idea what the hell happened to my order. I would suggest not purchasing from this person. I think my $29 went down the shitter.

Sorry to hear that they haven't arrived...If you still want to play ball, I recommend ordering from my guy. He's a top rated seller...These tubes continue to open up. I'm starting to like them quite a bit. Just got a sweet deal on a totally restored Eico HF-85 preamp, recapped, new volume pot, loudness and stereo/mono switches disabled. Dying to hear the phono stage, which is supposed to be one of the best in vintage audio...

I've had Russian PIO caps take almost a month to arrive. The package looking like it went around the globe two or three times. LOL

I've found over the years that packages from Russia / Ukraine / Lithuania / Belarus can take as little as ten days and as long as 4 to 6 weeks, it all depends on the vagaries of the postal systems over there, and the time of year (the last two weeks of December, and first week or two of January generally being the absolute slowest) . Apparently that part of the world goes on a 3 or 4 week long "toot" for Christmas / New Years / Winter Festival /Boxing Day / Kwanzaa / etc.

Only once did a shipment of 16 6P14Ps get lost in delivery, and the seller later replaced them at no cost to me, with 16 6P14P-EVs. The cost of original 16 tubes at the time was $32, and the shipping was $8, so it came out to 2.50 per tube, delivered. Not too shabby...

Finally received my tubes on the 5th. Packed very nicely and worth the wait I hope. I will try them out today and see what they are like.

All in all, I'd say that that the Russian 6P3S-E is a fine choice for ST70 users on a budget, and I'm going to let them burn in for a while and see what happens. Anybody have any thoughts on what these should be biased at in the long term? I have them at 40mA per tube for now.

Just biased them at 48mA per tube. Very nice sounding tube. Very open and I have no complaints on the bass. They sound better the longer they run. They have less bass than the 6BG6GA's at the moment but they may open up more as they run.

Here's something I ran into today. This gentleman moves a LOT of McIntosh gear over on EPay, he's marketing this pair of MC40's with "military grade" power tubes. Pan to the bottom photo and behold the lowly 6p3s-e! Those amps will sell for $3000 with $25 worth of power tubes in em! Brilliant!

Sorry here's the link, it timed out on me again...Kind of reminds me of putting 13" Volkswagon Bug tires on a Cadillac ElDorado...Those tubes aren't rated for that kind of power, are they?

The more hours the tubes get on them the better they sound. I ordered another 8 just to have them in stock.
