DiyTube 70 board?

Postby Wmacky » Sat Mar 28, 2009 6:02 pm

I've heard alot of praise for the Eico HF-87 amp. Many say it's very close to the Marantz 8B. I have thought about doing a build of one, but remember Shannon saying that the DY 70 Board (which I used on my Dynaco build), uses the Eico driver circuit. So...

Perhaps I esentially already have one?

Is a 70 built on this board really more of a Eico 87 than a ST-70?

I wonder how they would compare?

More like the HF-89 as the '87 is cathode biased. The circuit is essentially the same except the CCS in the PI stage, and a few component tweaks here and there.

OK, sounds like I should skip that build. I think i'll do some mono blocks instead!
