Hey Sal, I'm working on my parts list for recent ST-70. What value caps are those on your stock driver board? I'm asking specifically about the centrally located smaller four that aren't the orange drops. You know, the ones that look like chocolate covered raisins.

The ST-70 you see in the pictures, is not mine, I restored it for someone, he wanted the old chassis's back. I restored 2 of them for him.

The black ones are 390pf @ 1000vdc, the brown little guys are 82pf @ 500vdc. You should use 1000v capacitor for the 380pf caps.

Do you just need two of each? I probably have a bunch in the parts box at home. I will look when I leave work.

Edit: Chris, Yes I have a pair of 82 and a pair of 390 silver micas. They are 500v rated. Thats what I have used on all my ST70s without a problem. Missing any other items? I usually dont order from Mouser unless I need like $50 worth of parts otherwise the S&H becomes significant. I can mail them to you if you want. Or you can send everything
but the tubes to me and I will do all the mods just for the soldering fun. I dont know if I have 7199s though, Cheers, Mike

Go to http://www.dynakitparts.com , they have almost everything you will need to restore the 70'. That is where I get my parts from. Fast and friendly service.

Wow Mike, Thanks! The reason I was going with Mouser was because I was just about to place my DIYtube driver board parts order and wanted to combine ST70 projects to save on shipping. I have two ST70s that I'm working on right now. I'm starting to think that the mods will go into the one with the better chassis, freeing up the rusty one for a sandblasting, powdercoat and stock installation.

I'm competent and enjoy soldering-- it's just that the older SDS cap board's instructions aren't particularly clear for a beginner like myself. I may be taking you up on that offer once I get the boards together. If that's still cool.

Chris, does your SDS PCB use the surface mount 300K resistors on the underside? IIRC I couldn't find the Panasonic electrolytic caps at Mouser and I had to order from Digi-key. I think 25mm is the maximum height for the caps also and that Panasonic made the only ones at the time that were short enough.

Hey Mike, I completed the SDS board over a year ago but didn't get around to installation. It definitely has those surface mount resistors and the correct Panasonic caps.

This cap board is so old, It was purchased directly from Sheldon himself!

Aw crap, I was wrong about the ST70 SDS board. They're Heathkit W5M SDS boards. Completely wrong amp project.

Can't find the damn ST70 board. Don't hold your collective breath guys I'm up to my eyeballs in projects here. It'll be a-while before I can track this thing down.

There's gotta be a local engine shop that would be willing to sandblast and powdercoat for a small fee. Maybe even re-chrome if you're lucky.
