So I got all the parts to build my ST70 - tubes, VTA board (thanks
to Mike Sherman), misc hardware, an old Dynaco ST70
chassis and yes, a set of Trafomatic potted toroidal
transformers (OPTs and PT).
The thing is - the transformers are probably waay overdesigned.
On the ST70 chassis, at the rear where the transformers fit, I can
barely get the two OPTs to fit with no space for the PT.
So what do I do - mount the PT in a separate chassis,
make a 'daughter chassis' for the PT and OPTs and bolt it
to the back of the ST70, or just forget the Dynaco chassis
and put everything on a clean, larger chassis?
I'd really like to use the ST70 chassis to lend an authentic air.
Mounting the toroids vertically is not a good
option - they are potted and the encased bolt may not hold
the weight, even if I give aesthetics the go by.
All ideas accepted! Anyone else used this iron?
