St 70 Bias Pot

I noticed Percy has a quality adjustable pot that he claims sounds better than Cermet or the other low price pots from Mouser. it goes for 9$ each. Has anyone tried them? Does anyone think it is snake-oil? They look very well made.

Do you mean bias pot or balance pot as on the DIY driver board?
If bias pot, see:

If balance pot, Bourns 10 turn is the bomb! Yellow_Light_Colorz_PDT_16

Bias Pots

Yes; thats true i should have specified. The Balance cermet pots on the driver board is what I was looking at. They always struck me as a little flimsey for the design. However they have worked fine so far. But i have become a convert to resistor sound possibilities. Caps; I use orange drops; but I have tried several changes of resistors in specific spots; making sure to match them; and I find certain resistors to have a sound thats different from other resistors. One that I prefer. Maybe it's just the noise level of particular brands.

Am I to understand that you believe the type and brand of the bias control will effect the sound quality?

I think it's more a reliability and performance issue than affecting sound quality. Yellow_Light_Colorz_PDT_17

Actually i wouldn't think in that position it would make a difference; I'm more concerned about reliability.
