How to take good pictures of audio gear...?

Postby joeriz » Wed Jan 23, 2008 12:38 pm

I just finished re-building by ST-70 with Shannon's board and everything is working great. One question: does anyone have any pointers for taking decent pictures of audio gear?

I've always been plagued by the 'flash on the chassis' syndrome and, not being much of a photographer, haven't found any great way to overcome it. I suppose making sure you have enough light to not need a flash would be a start Yellow_Light_Colorz_PDT_09 , but does anyone have any other ideas and/or pointers?

Thanks,
Joe

Joe,

Try holding some translucent paper in front of the flash to diffuse the light. Of course, don't block the lens with it.

I try to photograph in front of a large North facing window and use a tripod.

I like to take the equipment outside, and get a nice out of focus
background ... the sunlight looks good to me.

Take it outside in the shade

Take the amp outside in the shade with a suitable background and ALSO use the FLASH on the camera as a light "fill". Below is a link to a photo taken in the shade with fill flash of two Dynaco ST-70's rebuilt on new chassis frames - one with ceramic sockets and one with Micanol sockets.
