Staked terminals?

Postby snitch56 » Fri Nov 02, 2007 10:01 pm

I have to ask Shannon, Why are the hook up holes so large on the ST70 DIY Board? I am new at this so please don’t get offended. The AWG wire doesn’t even come close to filling the holes. Is it expected to use 2.5 mm staked terminals?
Thanks in advance!

Allow me to rephrase my question. When using 22 AWG hookup wire going to the Diytube ST-70 board J1---J23 connections, is it recommended to fill in the remainder of the hole with solder or use staked terminals? Which connection is more dependable?

I've used a bunch of the ST-70 board and Poseidon boards,
and just stuck the clean, pre-tinned wire in the hole, and filled
it with solder. Looks fine. Aren't the holes about the same
size as the original Dynaco ?

IIRC, some of the original Dynaco driver boards had eyelets in the holes, and some didn't. The eyelets (or stake terminals) aren't really necessary.

I thought I replied to this Saturday morning - looks like I forgot to post it. Basically, I left them large in case multiple wires or larger AWG were used.
