HF-87 copy?

Postby TerrySmith » Sat Jan 27, 2007 9:01 am

This goes along with the ad I posted in the prebay section.

The other day I was digging around in my pile-o-iron, and came across a set of transformers I forgot about. They came from a Conn organ amp that had two channels with 7027 pp outputs, one channel with 7868 pp output. No UL taps on either. The power tranny is a voltage doubler and measures 185v nl. And they fit a ST-70 chassis perfectly!

I was thinking of using the 7027 iron on a '70 chassis with the Diy board to make a HF-87 clone of sorts. It may be triode connected or pentode connected with regulated screen grids, like the 50w amp in the RCA manual. There is no bias tap so it will be cathode biased for now.

Any hints or suggestions are welcome and encoraged!
