SOLD! EL84 SE Amp - RH84 Design
Posted: Mon Dec 28, 2015 6:47 pmSmall chassis (6"x10" top plate) RH84 build. Walnut base with 1/8" thick aluminum top plate. Utilizes a Hammond choke and 5w Transcendar OPTs. All point-to-point wiring and no hum. Output is about 5w/ch, although it sounds much more robust than that on my Omega A8's. Included is a pair of Chinese EL84s and a new pair of matched Sovtek EL84Ms, which improve the bass (IMO).
The amp sounds great, as an EL84 SE design (and the RH84 in particular) is known to. And it's small footprint allows it do be used in a desktop or on a rack where it won't take up much space. The only reason I am letting it go is to fund a new-to-me Red Wine Audio Signature 30.2, which pairs beautifully with Omega's.
I also have a dual mono, one input/one output passive attenuator available that I'll include. It works great with this amp,,assuming your source has enough gain for a passive. Pics are in the link. Let me know and we can work it into the deal. Quick and easy way to get up and running if you don't have a separate preamp available!
