ST70 chassis with random transformers

Postby Blair » Fri Aug 14, 2015 9:15 am

This is a butchered ST70 I bought a while ago in case I got a restoration beyond repair. The chassis is in pretty good condition with intact lettering and I think it would clean up fine. It looks like the person that installed these other transformers intended to do minimally invasive surgery on it because the cutting that was done is around the output transformers and he did it in the rear area. I think a standard A470 would really cover almost all of it. Unknown power and output transformers. The PT comes back with an Eico number to a color TV. It is very robust and would be great for another project. I cannot identify the outputs at all, but they were used with 6l6, so I assume they are 6.6K pri. it might not be easily seen in the images, but the bottom cover is also included with this amp. It is not functional because I was starting to tear it down when I realized that I have too much going on already with about five amps in my office.

Asking $150obo plus shipping.

Thanks!

Fired up the power transformer to see what I got. 166V unloaded. I assume that will be around 150V loaded, so doubler to get ~400VDC.

Al also assessed my need for space. How about $120 shipped in CONUS.

Are those output transformers the same?

Hi,

Yes, they ohm the same. If you like, I can take a few images with my meter on them. They are also built identically with the same materials. They have a single secondary, but I am unsure of the impedance.

Also, this is an OBO deal. I need to get gear out of my office.

Thanks!

That left one in the ST703 picture looks taller, might be an optical allusion. Are their measurements the same? Can you give me the dimensions of the outputs?

Good eye! It's in my possession and I didn't see that. The left one is about 1mm taller. They both measure .8ohms on the secondary, and within 2 ohm'd of each other on the primaries across the whole winding.

Just one more question, so they are about 3" X 4" X 3 1/2" or so?
