WTB: Shielded Hookup Wire

Postby coolhandjjl » Sat Oct 12, 2013 6:43 pm

Looking for someone who has some shielded hookup wire with one center conductor for a preamp project. The preamp project is Ken Stapleton's Class IX PS2/AP1 boards thar were mentioned here.

I tried some Mogami stuff recommended by someone on a forum (I forgot which one). I paid $33 for a 50' roll. It was nice and flexible, the shield was easily unwoven, but the center conductor drove me nuts. It was difficult to strip the hard insulation off, and once stripped, still had some silk or poly fiber wrapped about the copper that was hard to separate and I ended up burning it off. The stranded copper center that was left was but a mere handful of really, really super thin strands that made for a fragile hookup.

Shannon mentioned using computer cdrom hookup wire, or if anyone has a few feet of their favorite stuff to sell off, give me a shout.

Thanks, John

Fine wine comes in glass bottles, not plastic sacks. Therefore the finer electrons are also found in glass bottles.
