Hi,

What is your goal for sound.... mids enhanced? Transparent? Need phono stage?

There's some really overpriced kits with identical topology of much cheaper ones.

Cheers!

Fine wine comes in glass bottles, not plastic sacks. Therefore the finer electrons are also found in glass bottles.

I am new to this. I just know I don't need phono.
I have a set of NHT 3.3 speaker, and a denon poa 1500 amp/ pra 1000 pre amp. I think the NHTs deserve better. I am trying with better pre amp first. I like mellow sound so I think tube pre amp is the way to go.

If you are happy with the pre-amp but want tube sound then I would suggest adding a tube buffer between pre and power amp.

You can often score "kits" completed on Audiogon for less than the kits.

The good tube preamps and line stages do not sound tubey. Some mistake that sound as being a proper sound for tube equipment. Good tube equipment adds clarity to the sound and reproduces it the way it was recorded in my opinion. I personally would skip the crap out there and consider a preamp from Geek or an Aikido as both will deliver sound the way it was meant to be heard. Note * This is just my opinion and other may hold a different opinion.

If what I have said makes any sense to you then Google the Aikido and also check out Geeks site. Talk to gregg(Geek) and he will help guide you along your way. ;)

Hagerman Technology just replenished their stock of "Clarinet" linestage boards. It is a great sounding unit worth the price. The 1/2 kit is 129 USD.
