FS - Dynaco ST-70 output transformers and more!

Postby Bob » Sun Feb 13, 2011 3:24 pm

I have a pair of genuine Dynaco Stereo 70 output transformers that I replaced with some Audio Research transformers back in the mid 1970's. This is a perfectly working pair that was from a kit I built at that same time. There is probably less than 10 hours of use on them. I would like to get $200 for the pair shipped to CONUS only. Send me your email address and I can send some pictures. I also have the original, made in Gt. Britain 5AR4 rectifier tube from that same kit that was replaced with a solid state regulated supply at the same time I did the transformer swap. I'd like to get $25 for it shipped to CONUS only. And lastly, I have a Dynaco PS-1 power supply for powering a pair of PAS-1 mono pre-amps. This has a filter cap, the sockets and switch, but seems to be missing the transformer. It's a good candidate for restoration. $25 shipped to CONUS. [/img]

I've sent you a PM about the rectifier...
"It's a different experience; the noise occlusion, crisp, clear sound, and defined powerful bass. Strong bass does not corrupt the higher frequencies, giving a very different overall feel of the sound, one that is, in my opinion, quite unique."

I wouldn't be opposed to shipping to Germany, but obviously the freight and insurance would be extra. The other problem is payment as I do not take PayPal. If you are still interested, send me an email and I will send pictures of the xformers. razeichnerATameritechDOTnet

Price reduction, 5AR4 gone

Postby Bob » Sat Feb 19, 2011 5:57 am

The 5AR4 has been sold. I've decided to reduce my price on the transformers, so $150 for the pair shipped to CONUS. Anyone wanting to see photos of these should PM their email address to me and I will be happy to send them. PS-1 is also still available.

I meant what Type of transformers... the number pressed into the cover. That gives me hint on where and when produced.

I'm surprised Sal Brisindi hasn't been asking about the transformers. They should be right up his alley. The asking price seems extremely fair, but what do I know? Last I heard Sal's wife was in the hospital... I hope all is well with both of them.

Thanks Ty,
Thankfully my wife is out of the hospital, it was a stressful 2 weeks for me and my family with 2 separate hospital stays over 2 weeks for a total 11 days. Truth to be told, had I gone to work Sunday 3 weeks ago and not checked on her, it could have been a very bad outcome. With that said, I have 6 or 7 Dynaco ST-70's, I lost count, 2 Mark 3's, 2 Mark 4's, 3 SCA-35's but will sacrifice a SCA-35 for the transformers to build a ST-35 as I have the chassis, cage and printed circuit boards and as of last Wednesday a mint pair of rare Dynaco Mark 6's, 120 watt tube amps so I don't need another pair of ST-70 transformers now... later maybe but not now.

I do have a new ST-70 chassis and whenever time permits, I'll do a complete restoration on my worst condition ST-70 to build a mint ST-70, I just been so busy on restorations for my customers. I'm like a shoemaker with holes in his shoes... :-)

Here are a few photos of my Mark 6 amps, and I'll throw a photo of my wife and I so you can put a face at my name and throw a dart at... First picture circa 1985, second picture 25 years later 2010.

Regards,
Sal
