Help trouble shooting Budgie Phono

Postby Heath » Sun Nov 09, 2014 7:22 pm

I'm not sure if I should post this here or in the Budgie forum. The phono board is stuffed, and I've got a few issues. First, the red Led comes on fine, 30 seconds later the relay trips, red LED goes out, but the green LED doesn't light up. My tube voltages are messed up, but I'm not sure where to look for the issue.

P1 46.7
P2 and P3 are 0
P4 is 62.4 (!)
P5 is 46.7
P7, 8 and 9 are 0

That is with no tubes in.

D6 and D8 are good ( 5.47v and 5.89v )

The 555 checks out and current draw on r35 is 76 mA and r36 is 34 mA

If it matters, I tried the low noise mod with red LEDs http://www.diytube.com/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?f=18&t=6403

I would appreciate any help. Sorry if I sound idiotic.

Hi Heath,

The two power supply grounds are separate on the board and will cause your problem. Normally they are tied together at the connectors on the chassis. But for now you can jumper R47 with a piece of resistor wire trimming.

Thanks a lot, Shannon. Listening to it now. Sounds wonderful. Now on to build the line stage and when I get a little more bread one of your ST35's. Thanks again for the help.
