As in other words, JJ Tubes quality control is lacking and we need to test a bunch of them to find a few good ones. Once we find the ones that work we stamp Telefunken on them, "cryogenically treat" them and charge you double. Good business plan.

Or, 3 to 4 times the price of JJ tube. A single "Telefunken" 12ax7 is $38, but a JJ 12ax7 from AES is $9.85.
