I am looking into a 120W UL amp using a pair for a fully balanced distant future project.

I see that these are now available but are currently out of stock.

I have my reservations.... it will take serious power iron just to run them and custom output iron if you want to run them at their limits. 845 or other transmitter tube might be a safer choice, as you aren't hogtied into a single manufacturer.

:2c:

The KT - 150 is now available here !!!

At $100 each I don't think they will be a hot seller. Plus they are only slightly bigger than the KT-120.

Not until they've proven themselves, at least.

Was there any amps listed for North America that use them?

Fine wine comes in glass bottles, not plastic sacks. Therefore the finer electrons are also found in glass bottles.

Every time I look at the KT150 I think of the Gherkin in London. (lol)

Is it just me? Or do others resent foreign manufacturers buying or mooching on old American brand names, like Tung-Sol? If these tubes are so good, why don't they put their own name on them?

Bullet shape for "Shure fire power" !
Visualize the guitar and amp scene in "Back to the future" movie as the voice coils of the speakers explode out of the cones and blow Michael J fox back to the wall.

Because they wouldn't sell very good?

Spoils of Conquest.

Others work very hard to earn their name... Shuguang is no longer laughed at, but are making the established shake a little in their boots... hence KT120's and KT150's ;)

New Sensor Corp. acquired the names and trademarks of Tung Sol, Genalex and Mullard. They claim to use the same fab techniques and specs for recreating the tubes made famous by the above. I don't think New Sensor Corp. makes its own 6550 just to slap a Tung Sol name on it. But - with the KT150, that is what they do.

A blurb about the Genalex KT88:
"After extensive research and engineering, New Sensor Corp. has reissued the famed Genalex Gold Lion KT88. This tube has been recreated down to the finest detail with gold plated grid wire, carbonized screen grids, and a tri-alloy clad plate structure for exceptional performance and sound quality. "

http://www.svetlana.com/ProductHighLigh ... ProId=1229

The Genalex KT66:
"Exact copy of the original clear glass KT66. The tube that created “The Bluesbreaker Tone.” used in 50’s-60’s hi-fi favorites such as the Heathkit W-5M and many Leak amplifiers."

A matched quad of Kt150s is going for $299. ($75 per tube) The prices did not drop as far as was expected. Maybe next year a price drop?

If I wanted to build a single-ended application of 20-25W, can anyone tell me the ideal OT impedance, plate, and screen voltages? Thanks.

If you can use a 32-bit Windows OS then John Broskie's SE CAD is only $9.95:

One of the best deals on the planet for the SE DIYer!

I have several real Tung-Sol tubes, including a pair of 2A3s. If I want more, I will buy real ones, not ersatz from New Sensor.

Whoever manufactures and labels New Sensor Tung-Sols, will soon, if not already, sell them under some other label.

When they say that the New Sensor Tung-Sols are built with original Tung-Sol tooling, prove it. When was it shipped to China?
