EL34 in UL?

Postby Blair » Wed Aug 14, 2013 8:42 pm

I have a set of 1650T output transformers that I bought to play with for sweep tubes, but then I found a pair of Lundahls that I bought also along with the other huge Sowters. Hey Ed, sound familiar!? I'm starting a nice collection!

Anyway, I am considering a six pack of EL34s in UL on a ~340-360V supply. What kind of power would I be able to expect out of six EL34s at that B+? I was hoping for around 90W.

Thanks!

90W audio output sounds a bit optimistic, but some tube data do indicate a figure very near that with a low output impedance. I was thinking a solid 75-80W.

Thanks! I've managed to collect quite a few pairs if output iron this summer, and rather than selling them off, I think I will do builds and sell them off as complete amps.

70-80W is pretty good for my speakers.

Why not use the 1650T to its capability?
With 6 off UL connected EL34 about +440V will give you 120 Watts.
