Resistance on center tap to drop B+ a touch?

Postby Blair » Fri May 03, 2013 8:21 pm

I needed to drop my B+ by about 10-15V, so I put a 35 ohm 10W resistor in series with the center tap to ground. Is there any harm done by doing this?

Thanks!

No problem.

Guitar amp makers have put standby switches in centre taps for ages. Just make sure if your resistor blows, your chassis or I/O jacks in no way can become live with a person or preamp completing the circuit =:o

Fine wine comes in glass bottles, not plastic sacks. Therefore the finer electrons are also found in glass bottles.

Thanks Gregg!

Everything is chassis grounded including the IEC, so it should be safe.
