I do like the schematic though. You think three pairs would go well with 1.5K a-a?

The MKIII used a 4.2K transformer for 60W, so maybe a little less power per pair, but maybe 150W?

I once used a Hammond 1650W (1.9K) with a Poseidon front end and it hit around 153W before clipping onset at 1K. Back then I did not have a real tone generator, so I had a chip thing I built that put out a 1K sine wave only.

You think it would work out OK with the Sowters? I like that front end on that schematic, but I'd probably swap it out for 6CG7s.

Thanks!

Well, I was looking for a PPP KT88 amp that had a huge power supply to gauge what the WE could do. I looked at KT120 PP amps, too, which use 4-5K ohm outputs. 1.5ohm should be fine for PPP KT88s, though 2-3ohm Raa may be ideal. The Sowters' should handle it fine, unless you want to go with 8 25W tubes, like EL34s.

Thanks!

I will stew over this for a bit while I'm waiting for parts to come in.

The only thing I worry about with the 25W tubes is the high B+ in UL.

I have a few options really. I have a pair of Bogen power transformers that have 260V secondaries and tons of filament current. I own these.

I have one WE 1,200vct transformer now and have access to another for a $100 premium. These would make a nice KT88 supply.

The Bogens seem like they would work for 6L6GCs, or EL34s, but is need 4-5 pairs to get to power with them.

Thanks again!
