I have a conn organ transformer

Postby DeathRex » Sat Dec 22, 2012 4:58 pm

For a 461 minuet, I believe. It has alot of wires:
6.3V
6.3V
6.3VCT
5V
305V
And the rest of the secondary: 395-50-285-110

The tubes were:
4x 6V6
2x 6L6
2x 7199
1- 12AU7
2x 5U4
1- 6DN7
1- 6S4
I can't figure out how they wired the 5U4s to the secondary.

Here's a picture of both units.

If the power transformer has a 305V CT, the rectifiers were probably paralleled for more current, as below.

That does make sense. Why would you have 305 all by itself with no center tap.
I went checking and found the 305 actually does connect with the rest of the secondary.
So the secondary goes like this: 420-306-24-0-24-306-420. Gotta be the most tapped secondary I've seen.
The 5U4s must goto the 306 for the 6V6s and 420 for the 6L6GCs. 24-0-24 must be for bias.
I must have another 5 volts too for the other 5U4.

It might have more than one CT winding.

If there are separate 305-0-305 and 420-0-420 windings, one 5U4 could be used for the 6V6 tubes and one for the 6L6GC tubes.

I found one of the 6.3V filament wires was actually 5V.
It is a big sucker. The "big iron at the e-place" is 10.5 lbs. This one is 14 lbs.
I need to test it to see how much current it can handle.
