The line stage section from the Marantz 7c is a venerable one.

If you want high gain, the Norman Koren PAS line section is a good one.

Why ECC83/12AX7. This is not supposed to be the best tube in the world. 12AU7, 6SN/, 6922 etc are supposed to be very much more linear and distort way less.
