Blonder tongue audio baton project

Good day.

I just completed a (mostly to spec) build of the blonder tongue audio baton 9 band EQ. It has been a super fun project, but upon testing I found that something was amiss.
I get nice and clear radio through my amp, there is a fair bit of hum, and my guitar blips in and out. If i put my hand on the chassis of the EQ, both the radio and hum reduce significantly and the guitar becomes a little stronger. If I put my hand on the chassis of the EQ aaand my hand on the strings of my guitar to constantly ground it, the radio goes away, as well as the hum and the guitar shines through without any blipping in and out. I figured I had a bad ground in the EQ but I checked it out and everything seems to be on the up and up.
I was wondering if maybe I was getting a ground loop from my amp and if I should put a ground lift in the EQ output. That was my first thought anyway.

Any input or ideas would be greatly appreciated.
