12SN7 Rozenblitz Grounded Grid Preamp.

Postby coop402 » Wed Dec 28, 2011 9:37 am

Thanks everyone for purchasing my prebay stuff.
I am financing some new projects.

I got out my "Audio Reality" book and build an oversized Buick of a grounded grid preamp. I used 12SN7s instead of 12au7s and kind of built it to look like an amp layout to match some future stuff.

I have put in a single front input on a 4 way rotary switch.

1 output on the back, 2 inputs. I will be adding 1 more input on the back and putting in a hagtech bugle phono preamp (I know, not tube, but I like the way it sounds.)

pictures are just ok, the ends are not going to be built until I finish my matching monoblocks.

Looks OK to me.

I have been into two different GG:s bothe using 12Au7s. The second is built on boards bought from Analog-Metric, HK. Been intrigued by building a GG using triple-triode compactron .

It is completely built now, I scrapped the idea of building in the phono section and bought a hagtech cornet2 board.

I think the sound is exceptional on the Grounded Grid.

It is also really cheap to build. Low parts count.

Others have mentioned that the Aikido is much better.
I may have to build one of those, however I would like to build it point to point.

Build a 6SN7/6SN7 or a 6FQ7/5687

Both can be built point to point. The 6au6/5687 sounds good also but is more difficult to get noise free.

Know of any complete schematics for a proven octal Aikido?

Fine wine comes in glass bottles, not plastic sacks. Therefore the finer electrons are also found in glass bottles.

Don't sell the PCB versions short. I have one of the LV versions and it is *dead* quiet through 102dB Klipsch speakers...

PCB's are great.
Right now I am really learning a lot from doing point to point, however.
It forces me to really concentrate on the schematic.

A finely tuned PCB should have great signal paths, etc.
Right now, point to point is just a preference on this long journey.
