6BM8 Question

Postby dhuebert » Tue Aug 17, 2004 9:16 am

I am currently working out the calculations to build a stereo single-ended amplifier using a pair of Sovtek 6BM8s. I cannot find a spec for plate resistance on the triode section. anyone know why? Is there a way to measure plate resistance, like with a voltage divider network of some kind?

Yeah - this is missing from some of the datasheets.

If mu = Gm * Rp, then Rp = mu/Gm so:
Rp = 70/2.5
Rp = 28K

Hi all,

After doing some poking around in the archives, I think the reason the plate resistance of the 6BM8 triode section was never spec'd is because the tube was never intended originally to be an AF amplifier. The earliest applications for the ECL82 I've found were as vertical oscillator/output in European and Japanese B&W televisions. Stay tuned...
