RCA 3C33

RCA3C33, dual power triode in a septar jug.

Looks like it should be a "Russkie", but it is not...

The triode cousin of the 832A or 829B, or the US precursor to the 6C33C (sort of) Yellow_Light_Colorz_PDT_02 Yellow_Light_Colorz_PDT_16

If the USSR could reverse-engineer an entire B-29, it's not much of a stretch to think that the 6C33 might have started life in RCA's labs.

Fine wine comes in glass bottles, not plastic sacks. Therefore the finer electrons are also found in glass bottles.

Dar Bozhie: The Hap Arnold Special

Postby EWBrown » Thu Nov 01, 2007 5:37 am

Da, Tovarisch Yellow_Light_Colorz_PDT_06

The Russians referred to the four B-29s which were left in Russia, at an airfield near Vladivostok, as "Dar Bozhie" (Gifts from God).

During WWII, the Russians were officially "neutral" towards Japan, and they allowed US planes to land on Russian territory, only in emergency conditions. The US B-29 crews were interned as "guests" at a resort near the Black Sea resort of Sochi, and wre treated as honored guests, and not as POWs, but at the same time, taken out of action.
Then the day after the surrender, the Russians then declared war against Japan.

Similarly, they copied the C-47 / DC-3, IIRC, it becane the Antonov AN-18. (AHTOHOB AH-18) Which larter earned the NATO designation as "Cub".

The History Channel shows the B-29 proogram occasionally, and one part of it shows the open to the public display of the project in progress.

One part of that display shows their copies of our aircraft radios, and the tubes that they copied, and one in perticular definitely looks like a 6B4G (their 6C4C / 6S4S).

The 6C33C contains two triodes in the same jug, but the difference is that the two sections are parallel connected, and it has two separate filaments.
Gives them the option of 6 or 12V operation, or simply running half the tube. Hmmm, half a 6C33C is a 6C41C, and a 6C19C-V is basically half a 6C41C...
