Chicago Transformers decoder ring?

I recently acquired some clean, mongo Chicago Transformers iron, and I've located a copy of the '58 catalog for specs. The power transformers have a grid of pins on the bottom you jumper and connect to, and the catalog does not mention these. Anyone have clues (or know where I might look for more info)?
