Leak Varislope Stereo Preamplifier

Postby 6B4G » Sat Jan 31, 2015 5:17 am

Hi guys, me again,
Has anyone worked on a Leak Varislope Stereo preamp?
Has anyone any suggestions on any mods for use with a CD player?
This unit is coupled up with a Stereo 50 that has the gain pot added.
Thanks again.

There is some basic stuff here showing parts replacement.

Some original Leak info here:

You will probably have discovered that most Leak power amp users don't like them. I tried mine with the TL50's but didn't either. All the phono EQ options (of which there are several on some models) sounded harsh and very noisy. There is too much gain for most line sources. See info at above site.
Classique Sounds in Leicester strips them out to make passive preamps so the box looks good in a Leak system. Slightly desperate solution.
Good Luck

Thanks John, unfortunately I know how you feel about the Varislope, in its time it would of been an OK preamp but not for
use today unless you do some major changes. I don't really want to gut it as it is a old classic unit in fantastic condition.
I'll have to do some sole searching on this one.
