Volume (gain) knob on Clementine Darling

Well, I just finished wiring up a point to point Darling Clementine. I have used Tom's schematic on many builds.
Didn't realize there was no gain control on the Clementine. So comparing 2 schematics, not really sure how to proceed.
There are two resistors involved R1 475k, and R3 1k. these go to pin 4. (on one side.)
My old schematic (Tom's) I call it old faithful. lol. Just has the potentiometer to pin 4 (grid).
How are you folks dealing with this?
