Handwired Clementine/Darling

Postby TomMcNally » Sun May 05, 2019 1:48 pm

I build this and shipped it to Singapore. Typical Darling except with a switchable headphone jack with Shannon's 20 ohm attenuator, also an ancient jeweled pilot lamp that has been in my parts drawer for 40+ years. 1626's are about 75 years old and fired right up as usual. I used an Antek toroid power transformer and Edcor outputs, Hammond choke. Try one !

It looks nice, I put a higher voltage bulb in it, a 24 or 28 volt to keep it from being too bright.

Tom - You are a prolific producer of exceptional Vacuum Tube Amplifiers. Nice work, and quite encouraging that your Audio Equipment is going toward Asia, as opposed to Asia shipping to the USA. I am wondering... Have you any knowledge of a "preferred" speaker being used by Clementine owners. If not a brand, than maybe a type.I am using back loaded horn speakers because they have high dB/W efficiency compared to say, an airtight "Acoustic Suspension" enclosure.
Thanks for the photos!
If it is not making X-rays, your B+ is too low.

Tom, the quality is always there! That is a given.
I think you are going for a Darling world record. You deserve it. LOL
