Custom Darling Case

Postby coop402 » Mon May 28, 2018 3:38 pm

I thought you guys might like this. I have a 100 watt laser cutter, so I cut out an interlocking box out of birch plywood as my initial base for this case. I then used burl walnut veneer and turned a cover out of walnut on my wood lathe for the Antek power supply. Some drilling of an aluminum plate. Turns out I really like the look of it. There is nothing underneath, but I have all the parts to do a point to point. Using a laser cutter is really cool, because I am able to precision cut all of the holes and shapes for exact fit of all the speaker connectors, din power plug, inputs outputs. When I have that put in I will take some more photos.

Love that transformer cover.

Fine wine comes in glass bottles, not plastic sacks. Therefore the finer electrons are also found in glass bottles.

As far as the transformer cover...
I didn't want to take up real estate under the amp, and they look pretty lame compared to an Edcor.
But they seem like a HUGE value for a toroidal. I am going to come up with a method that is easier than turning a bowl on the lathe to make similar covers.
I need to make one for Tom McNally. Since I can engrave, I could put his logo on the top. Just think it would be fun.

I'd be honored ! What's your chassis size ? Edcor OPT's underneath ? Some more pics would be cool and your laser equipment ?

thanks

Chassis is pretty much 8.5 x 11. sheet of paper size. I am gonna get some of the cheaper Edcors and put them underneath.
I would love to make some choke covers, etc. Just for fun!
