Last one of 2017 ... used a 12SL7 driver tube, AC on the filaments, dead quiet. Antec AN-05T200 power transformer, Edcor XSE15-8-4.5K Outputs, Hammond 156R choke.
Pretty much a hand wired Clementine/Darling.

I've built a few with the Hammond walnut enhanced chassis ... This one was painted in my cellar on a 6 degree (F) day and took forever to get it right.

Here's a black one -

So ... most of the time when these amps go out on the edge of the deck to get their pictures taken, they were just finished, maybe not even tested. They get a shot of bright sunlight and dust, scratches, etc. show in the high res (before resizing) picture for the first time, that all gets fixed.

Funny thing with this Darling was as I was typing "12SL7" I realized why the tube was glowing so brightly, I plugged a 6H9C in without thinking.
12 volts lit it up pretty nicely ! Didn't burn it out, although I did hear some odd distortion.

hah

Tubes are pretty tough... Wouldn't want to try overvolting a transistor like that ;)

Paint + low temps don't do well. Before I got a store with room to paint in the back, I preheated my rented shop on the property for a couple days with space heaters. Big improvement, especially on the coast where humidity can make the "best" of paints refuse to harden! =:o

Cheers!

Those are really nice amps Tom, I cant tell you how many times Ive looked at your amps for insperation on ideas and just realized to that your over the bridge. Ive built the Budgie SE then went back to guitar amp building, now I have one to many of those and Shannon no longer makes boards. Time for some p2p
