Need Source for WIDE turret board material

Postby MacL » Tue Nov 01, 2016 6:41 am

Hi All,
I want to purchase WIDE turret board material. I am looking for something wider than 3.125". I thought I had brought some a few years back and I could specify the width- but couldn't find today.
Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks!

For that size I do not think it is still considered "turret" pcb material.
Try a search for .125" FR4 pcb material.

I got some phenolic sheet from amazon, actually 3 - 1 X 2 foot sheets of different thicknesses. They are pretty cheap, but phenolic board isn't as strong as FR4. Many TVs came into the shop with broke phenolic circuit boards. Best bet is to use the 0.093" or 0.125" thickness. Your turrets' mounting depth should be 0.03" to 0.06" longer than the board thickness.

Here's a picture of the phenolic boards. There are 9 boards in there most are 1/8".

This one uses eyelets and setter from mouser.

Thanks for the suggestions. Contacted Ebayer that sold FR4 and the problem was he didn't have a SHEAR that could cut any thing wider than 12" and all of his pieces had greater dimensions. Ideally I would like a piece about 4"x 16-18" and he couldn't cut a 12"x18" piece into three pieces. Might try to hand cut but it is hard to get a clean edge without shattering or having cracks.

I used a small table saw with a 3 1/2" blade on mine.

There is few materials harder on blades than FR4 =:o

A bi-metal blade on my bandsaw I used for cutting stainless, overheated and snapped on some FR4.

I finally took a hacksaw to it :$

Fine wine comes in glass bottles, not plastic sacks. Therefore the finer electrons are also found in glass bottles.
