I am doing a compact build where some PCB mounted electrolytic capacitors will share the top deck with the tubes. Does anyone know of a source for deep-drawn metal covers to put over them. Your basic aluminum soda can, but smaller, around 1.5 inches inside diameter. I only need a few, so special orders are not cost effective.

Hrm, most local manufacturers get them custom turned at a machine shop.

Thanks Geek, looks like the smaller no touch "cattle cattle" covers from Asia might work.Took a quick look and saw some as small as 90mm.

Just thought of something else. Something I did when I was a young and broke Geek.

East Indian market stores have all sorts of cool stainless stuff, like cups, bowls, etc. I did do a replacement cap cover by nickel-brazing #6-32 angle hardware onto a stainless cup, priming and painting it.

Just another option.

Homemade is always more fun. I am going to try brazing a 1 1/4" sweat copper pipe cap to a 1 1/4" copper pipe coupling, and then clean it up and paint it. Not sure how it will look, but I think it should be OK.
I think IKEA (stores) has some of that stuff you are talking about too.

I have experimented with creating my own cans- I first tried small aluminum drink cans- stuff like REDB*LL-but they really aren't rigid enough. Go to your local hardware plumbing department and buy PVC or CPVC pipes and/or caps to use. They paint up really nice and take a bracket and can be cut easily and take a bracket really well.
