Question on Grid Chokes

Postby SDS-PAGE » Wed Sep 14, 2016 10:57 am

I am working to build an RC-coupled single ended amplifier and I have a nice pair of grid chokes that I want to explore the possibility of using in the circuit. Do I just replace the grid resistor (grid to ground for the output tubes) with a grid choke and I would still keep the coupling capacitor to prevent the driver plate voltage from driving any DC current through the power tube's grid or the choke?

Lastly, what is the main advantage of using a grid choke vs. a grid resistor?

Thanks,
