Postby pete42 » Tue Jul 19, 2016 9:23 am

Is there any DIY Eico love here for their tube amps and preamps.?
I am gonna DIY a clone of an Eico HF85 linestage for a friend.
I love their preamps and small amps..

It's pretty easy and cheap to get a ST-40 or 70 and fix it up.
At first I wanted to be a ET. Now I are one.

I find Eico stuff is pretty easy and friendly to work on and sound good to boot.

Are there boards or similar stuff for the Eicos as there are for Dynaco?
I have a much disassembled PAS3 with new and populated PCBs that are up to the original.

no soundbrigade. there is no after mkt support , bds or otherwies, for Eico that I am aware of.
the HF series didnt have bds, just hardwireing, which I prefer.
I have only worked on 2 models. the HF85 preamp and HF12 intg. amp.
2 of each so far. Am very pleased with their performance.

I was thinking of third party producers.

It's easy to handwire a amp or preamp from scratch. Hard parts are knobs, graphics, and getting everything aligned. Making the chassis and getting a circuit is the easy part.
