So after having a nearly completed PCB sitting in my wardrobe for almost a year, I finally got around to making a case for the currawong over Christmas.
Here's a photo of the transformers wired up
I didn't bother with connectors for the power cables, I just soldered them onto the board
I gave up trying to make a groove for the PCB to slide into as I only had a tenon saw, a chisel, a ruler and a tri-square. Didn't even have a vice to hold the wood.
I just cut a recess that the board sits into
Here's the back panel, just waiting for my speaker posts and input connectors to arrive
I also got a power switch that was larger than the panel cutout so I had to dremel it out a bit
It came up fine the first time with just one problem.
When I inserted headphones, the relays just start buzzing loudly instead of switching over.
I assume it was a problem with the inrush current needed to operate the actuator.
It turned out to be the BC547 anyway, soldered on a new one and all is good.
I just need to wait for the last few conenctors to try it out now.
Looks cosy though
