I don't understand the "new brand" thing from established and historic organizations unless it's a non-related item (which it isn't here), quality possibly will suffer or the business plan could lead to bad credit (???)

Fine wine comes in glass bottles, not plastic sacks. Therefore the finer electrons are also found in glass bottles.

This is a spin off. The company is splitting into two separate companies with completely separate management teams and stock symbols. If you buy some Agilent stock now before the split you'll receive shares in both companies once the split is finalized. However the combined value of both will be the same until the stocks begin to move separately. I doubt that they would do this unless the new business could be viable on its own. But who knows what will happen. Time will tell,
