Altec F-500A Field Supply

Postby SDS-PAGE » Thu Oct 24, 2013 7:05 pm

Hi All,

Someone wants me to make this power supply for the Altec Lansing 287 field coil per the schematic below and I can't seem to find any information on the power transformer or the choke. The required output is 220 vdc at 220-360mA. Any idea as to what the spec could be for the two transformers?

Thanks!

A 270 volt center taped power transformer rated 400 ma or better with a 5 volt winding a 6 amp , will do the job with a 1 hy choke .

you can go up in value with the voltage if you use a larger choke .

This would work if you wire the filaments of the two 5Z3's in series http://www.edcorusa.com/p/769/xpwr166_120

This is extremely useful. Thanks for taking the time to calculate for me!

One question. 1 hy chokes don't seem readily available commercially. What are my alternatives if I wanted to use off-the-shelf 2.5 - 5 hy chokes in the circuit?
